Drug & Alcohol Addiction Treatment for Women
The Right Treatment Programs Lead to Complete Healing
Addiction to drugs, alcohol, or other negative substances is a complex yet treatable disease. This is why gender-specific treatment programs are indispensable in beating addiction. Women require specific forms and methods of treatment, owing to their unique emotional and psychological makeup.
Harmony Place is dedicated to treating, assisting, and supporting women who are struggling with dangerous addictions and habits, and guiding them to complete recovery. Our philosophy helps our clients recognize and properly evaluate the impact of addiction and any co-occurring dual diagnoses.
Directly treating co-occurring dual diagnoses is an integral part of our treatment programs. Through years of research, study, and experience, we have come to realize that women have very different reasons for their addiction than men. These reasons, which mainly involve emotional issues, often co-exist with such symptoms as depression, anxiety, and sleep and eating disorders. There are cases wherein drugs, alcohol, or other dangerous substances are used as self-medication for these symptoms. Our philosophy is to help women open up and recognize their addictions and symptoms (hence a dual diagnosis), and in so doing make both available for treatment.
We also offer alternative treatment programs like individual and family therapy, interactive modalities, and psychological / neurological testing to ensure that no stone is left unturned on the way to happiness and fulfillment.
If you feel that you or someone you know and care for requires treatment for addiction or any potentially harmful maladjusted behavior, call us. We can help.
Core Components of Treatment
In order for the client to achieve their ultimate goal of achieving sobriety can be summarized as follows:
- Learn disease concept of addiction
- Learn about co-existing psychiatric components which may exist along with chemical dependency
- Learn to identify the compelling behavioral and perceptual triggers and stressors to one’s addiction
- Learn new skills and tools to increase one’s repertoire of coping with the demands of life and living life on life’s terms
- Integrate new skills in dealing with family, friends and co-workers
- Learn to integrate the 12 Step Principles of Recovery
- Develop a renewed sense of self and life purpose which is positive and healthy
The benefits of this type of care include the reduction and even the elimination from the disruption of social, family and community ties. It allows the client to test new skills in a more natural environment as opposed to a hospital setting; providing a treatment milieu that fosters independence and self-reliance. The treatment team may ascertain feedback from the home environment by involving the client’s family and/or significant others in the treatment process. When this is appropriate and families are able to participate, this can be of paramount importance for relapse prevention.
